Writing AOM has been a long journey. Somewhere along the way, I’d lost steam because of the ePiracy. I can’t fully say that I’m that driven writer that I was before as ePiracy which continues to plague me and hundreds of other authors. And I would be lying if I didn’t admit it still affects me.
However, I am determined as ever to finish this series. I’ve come too far to not to. So what is taking so long? Many things, but I often wonder if I’m not procrastinating in small ways. As a reader too, I can say that that when things happen in a book with characters you have grown fond of, you often have a somewhat similar response to that event almost as much as a real life event would.
And I think that what happens in this book is making it hard for me to write. So why do it? Why write such events when technically I don’t have to? And it comes down to that is just how the story was meant to go. And I don’t see the story ever ending unless I stay true to it.
Alas, as I trudge along and try to finish this one, I thought I would write a POV. It’s been a while and you all continue to be so patient with me. This POV is told by Mercy. It was just easier to stay in her head seeing that I’m in her head right now. Maybe I’ll write it from the other POV at some point. Maybe. 😉
Thanks for being such loyal readers. It is your kindness, kind words, and encouragement that keep me going. Thanks for that.
And here is the bonus chapter that takes place after BFM.

There are a lot of books I’m excited to release this year but the one I’ve been waiting for the most is AOM! But, no matter how long I have to wait for it, I’m sure it will be worth every second! We understand if you need more time! Thanks for the pov’s 🙂

funny…. I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this book. and I know you’re doing your best to finish it for us. whenever I want my Flynn fix I go back and read both of them. And being as there are so many Luke fans I try real hard to be a Luke fan. The problem is every time I reread your books I become an even bigger Flynn fan. So that kiss in the hallway…. well lets just say in my head its Flynn. And all these POVs keep me satisfied. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit Shannon. Not too many authors connect with their fans the way you do and very few give us that many POV as we wait for AOM. If you need more time, take it. You have loyal fans that will wait for this.

Sorry Jamie. It feels like I’ve been writing it forever. 🙂 Flynn is a lovable guy. I can’t blame you. Luke is sweet and maybe a little too perfect for some. Sebastian is mysterious. And poor Paul is human. I hope there is a guy for every reader, lol. Mercy however can only have one. I know you like Flynn, but is he the best option? Is Luke or even Sebastian? Or maybe BFFs (Paul) should become more than friends. Although I know how it’s all going to end I hope I don’t piss off any one Team. As far as POVs, I try to write them to keep you guys going and me motivated as well. I haven’t written as many lately because I’m trying real hard to finish AOM sooner rather than later. Thanks for your support. 🙂

Yeah, ePiracy took a bite off me back in August/September and my writing has taken a hit. AOM won’t be released today. I’m not done. I’m taking my time and I’m sorry about that. I’d hoped to have been finished long before now. Keep you fingers crossed that it will be done in the next month. When it’s finished, I’ll have a party here on my blog and give you guys a firm release date. 🙂

Hi. I’ve had it on my ‘to read’ shelf and then I get super disappointed every month because just when its supposed to come out, Goodreads is updated and its delayed again. What a tease! 🙂
But honestly, I understand and I appreciate you keeping us informed on your blog.
I noticed that Goodreads doesnt have a date now (it just says May 2013). Even though I want to know exactly when to expect it (bc last week it changed from April 30 to May 30), this is better in case the launch is still up in the air.
We’re all waiting on pins and needles… But take your time and thanks sooooo much for Mercy’s POV. I’m going to read it now. YAY!!!
